Archbishop Leo at St. Benedict Parish

In his ongoing efforts to meet the faithful of the archdiocese, Archbishop Francis Leo traveled to St. Benedict parish in Etobicoke to commemorate the Feast of Mary Help of Christians on May 24, 2023.

Archbishop Leo had the opportunity to not only celebrate Mass but also had a chance to meet with parishioners of the parish.

"As a Salesian Cooperator," said Rosina Di Felice, who also is the social media administrator at St. Benedict's, "it was so meaningful to hear that Archbishop Leo has a strong admiration of St. John Bosco and the Salesian charism."

St. Benedict parish was established in the Archdiocese of Toronto in June of 1955. The physical church building was completed in 1957 under the guidance of the founding pastor, Fr. Gerald Breen. The parish remained an archdiocesan parish until 1983 when the parish began to be served by the Salesians of St. John Bosco. Rev. James Berning S.D.B. serves as the current pastor at the parish where Mass is celebrated in English and Italian. A complete history of the parish can be found here

St. Benedict, pray for us.
